In partnership with Resurrected Life Community Church, we will honor Black African Ancestors — the known and the unknown — and celebrate the strength of spirit and the richness of heritage. Join us as we give voice to the enslaved, journey through the middle passage, shine light on the co-conspirators of the institution of slavery, and offer upliftment to our present day, where freedom is still out of reach for many. Our collective liberation is tied together. Written by Nehprii Amenii; directed by Kymbali Craig.

WHAT TO EXPECT

SPECIAL NOTE: Weather permitting, the MAAFA performance will start outside of the church at the double red doors at the Ninth Street entrance. When you arrive at Resurrected Life Community Church, look for the Box Office table with a bright orange tablecloth and orange balloons. You’ll check in there to get your program(s) and then be ready to enter with your guests when the performance begins. There will be chairs available for anyone who might need a seat as they wait for the performance to begin.

VENUE: Resurrected Life Community Church, 144 N Ninth St, Allentown, PA 18102

RUN TIME: 90 minutes, with an optional 30 minute talkback/Q&A session after each performance.

PARKING: There is limited free parking (about 45 spots) at Resurrected Life Community Church; this parking lot is adjacent to the church – entrance on Ninth St. between Turner and Linden streets. There is also metered parking (no meters on Sunday!) along neighboring streets and two paid parking garages at 946 W. Linden St. (.2 miles away) and 31 N. Lumber St. (.2 miles away).

ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION: Please note that the performance venue is in an historic building – built in 1875 – and is undergoing renovations to, in part, better accommodate accessibility. At this time, guests with limited mobility should note that there are stairs leading up to the church entrance and stairs leading up to the sanctuary, where the performance is held. Please contact Touchstone Theatre via phone at (610) 867-1689 or via email at touchstone@touchstone.org for more details on navigating the building or for more information on the livestream option to view the performance.
