John Gorka, the preeminent male singer-songwriter of the New Folk Movement leads a workshop, celebrating the power of place with local singer-songwriter Anne Hills .

Singer-songwriters John Gorka and Anne Hills lead a workshop minded towards crafting songs that create a sense of place for the listener and writer. John began his storied singer-songwriter career on Godfrey’s stage. John’s portfolio includes 11 critically acclaimed albums; and many well known artists have recorded and/or performed John’s songs, including Mary Chapin Carpenter, Nanci Griffith, Mary Black and Maura O’Connell.
Singer, actress, writer, and musician Anne Hills has continuously built a reputation of merit. During her career, she has received numerous honors and awards including most recently the 2019 Woodstock Folk Festival Lifetime Achievement Award; and the 2012 Posi Music Award in Social Justice for the song That Kind of Grace, co-written with David Roth.
This workshop is a prime double-header with two songwriting friends who are here to share their wisdom and decades of living and writing experiences.
